Therapy Dogs

M.A.S.T. therapy dogs are trained at TOPS Training Center in Grayslake, IL and are certified through the M.A.S.T. Therapy Dog Certification Program or Therapy Dogs International (TDI). M.A.S.T. is also an AKC-recognized registration and certification organization which means certification through M.A.S.T. provides eligibility for dogs to pursue AKC titles.

Our volunteer dogs are handled by their personal owners. You can help us visit a variety of locations to bring a smile to those who need it. We are always looking for volunteers.

We have a growing list of partner facilities including: James. A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center; Advocate Illinois Masonic Hospital; schools like: Grant High School, Rolling Meadows High School, etc; universities; nursing homes; libraries; and more. We also attend community parades and Honor Flight Welcome Home ceremonies. Please click Schedule Presentation if you would like to become a partner facility.

Therapy Dogs are dogs that support everyone. They are trained to be well socialized with people and other dogs. They are also trained to be well behaved in a variety of situations, for example: they will not bark when loud sounds happen, they do not have large reactions when startled, and they are trained to follow commands in crowded situations.

M.A.S.T does not have an age limit for therapy dogs. However, dogs should be at least 1 year of age. We do ask that all dogs are house trained.  We offer a 10-week training course that covers basic obedience as well as specific therapy dog training.

M.A.S.T. is now an AKC-recognized therapy dog registration and certification organization! Get involved, sign up for training classes today!
